The “Woodies” is the volunteer arm of the Mountain Communities Fire Safe Council. We meet weekly to cut and split wood for the Idyllwild Help Center which distributes it to those in need. The “Woodies” also do yard abatement during the summer.
The Idyllwild Community Fund grant helped the “Woodies” with funds for new safer and environmentally better gas cans, a dolly for hauling larger rounds of wood and maintenance and chains for chainsaws.
Since our inception, the “Woodies” have donated more than 18,000 hours to the community, cutting more than 600 cords of wood. It would be difficult to continue without the support of the Idyllwild Community Fund.
