Spirit Mountain Retreat Grant Recipient 2009, 2010

SMR Gardenby Esther Kennedy

October 28th marked the beginning of the Living through Transition and Loss Program.  We learned that human connections are formed through shared story. Together we took the risk to share our stories and our losses, learn of the misconceptions about grief, explore our myriad feelings, appreciate the courage it takes to grieve our losses, and experience genuine care and support from one another.
Our last session was December 9th. A final reflection I offer is that I believe we lived the words written by Stephen Levine and found them to be true.  “There are pains that cannot be contained in the mind – only in the heart.”
We shared quite deeply and honored the journey that each of us is on. We did open our hearts to one another and there found great love and compassion.
